One of the perks of living in Ensenada, Baja California, is that Valle de Guadalupe is part of the municipality, away from the urban area of the city, making it an ideal rural area to escape work, noise, and city traffic (but we won’t discuss that today).
Today, I want to share my experience at three boutique hotels in Valle de Guadalupe that you should know about.
If you’re planning a visit to this wine region in Ensenada, these places offer an experience that goes beyond simple accommodation.
What is a Boutique Hotel?
Before talking about my three recommendations, it’s important to quickly understand what a boutique hotel is.
A boutique hotel is characterized by being small, generally with around 10 rooms, and offers a personalized experience. These hotels are usually designed with great attention to detail, often adding elements and products from the local culture and especially offering a high level of service.
Unlike larger hotel chains, boutique hotels aim to create an intimate and cozy atmosphere, perfect for those seeking a more authentic and personalized experience.

Now, let’s see why I consider Lumi, Xaroma, and Quinta Arratz worth your attention.
Lumi: Ideal Accommodation for the Whole Family

A Glimpse at Lumi
Lumi is not just a place to stay; it offers a complete experience with its containers and glamping in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe. This boutique hotel combines the adventure of camping with the luxury of a high-end resort within its containers and its new Casa Lumi.
What Makes Lumi Unique?
First, let’s talk about the design. Lumi offers 4 container-style rooms, six fully equipped luxury tents, and currently, a house that can accommodate up to 6 people.
If you enjoy camping, you’ll love their camping tents, though I prefer their containers. I love experiencing the Valley but prefer more comforts when it comes to sleeping, and their containers certainly offer that.
What really sets Lumi apart is its Finnish sauna, access to an outdoor jacuzzi, giving a touch of European luxury amidst nature, but above all, its free craft beer barrel (well, I hope you’re lucky enough that it’s still there).
Activities and Amenities
At Lumi, each tent has its own fire pit area, allowing you to enjoy nights roasting marshmallows. There’s also a large fire pit area to share among its 4 containers.
Additionally, guests can explore the surroundings on bicycles, which the hotel provides. This is something so basic that many other places do not offer, and if you have children, they will love it—at least my child did.
What we like about Lumi at Reservalle:
- Finnish sauna and jacuzzi
- Craft beer barrel
- Accepts babies and children
- Accepts pets
- Children’s play area
- Bicycles
- TV with Netflix in the containers and house
What you should consider:
- The jacuzzi is not private
- If you choose the tents, the bathrooms are shared
- The included breakfast is continental (fruits and/or cereal)
Guest reviews
Visitors to Lumi praise the excellent service of the staff and the design of the rooms. They highlight the tranquility and the possibility of completely disconnecting from daily stress.
I love all the activities and amenities they offer for the whole family.
Their nightly rates (in a tent) start from approximately $79 USD.
Xaroma: A Tranquil and Elegant Boutique Hotel in Valle de Guadalupe

A Glimpse at Xaroma
Xaroma is a tranquil and, in my view, elegant boutique hotel. It has 9 villas, each with its own terrace and ample separation from one another, ensuring a more private and comfortable experience.
They recently inaugurated their Casa Xaroma for 12 people, a six-bedroom house, each with its own bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, living room, fireplace, and terrace with a grill—something quite fancy, I would say.
Architecture and Design
The design of Xaroma combines rustic with modern. The rooms are tastefully decorated, offering panoramic views of the valley, hills, and their vineyards. A view similar to Lumi, well, not to say the same since they are neighbors.
Gastronomy and Wine
Xaroma, unlike Lumi, has its own restaurant bar and chef who serves high-quality local food, prepared with regional ingredients. Additionally, the experience is complemented with wines from their own brand, which you can even purchase from their website.
You won’t have free beer like at Lumi, but you can buy all you want in different flavors and colors.
What we like about Xaroma at Reservalle:
- Interior design of their containers
- Intimate and exclusive atmosphere
- Excellent restaurant
- Good wines
What you should consider:
- Less family-oriented with children
- Only continental breakfast included
- No TV in the rooms
Guest reviews
Guests of Xaroma often highlight the attention to detail and the quality of service. Reviews frequently mention the tranquility of the place, making Xaroma an ideal spot for romantic getaways.
I loved their interior design and how peaceful it is, though I would have liked more activities to do with my young child.
Their nightly rates start at approximately $180 USD.

A Paradise in the Valley
Quinta Arratz is one of the boutique hotels in Valle de Guadalupe that offers a unique combination of natural beauty and modern comfort, ideal for weekend visits and special events.
Facilities and services
The hotel features extensive gardens, a pool with a jacuzzi, its own bridge over a natural stream, and common areas that truly relax you.
Unlike Lumi and Xaroma, Quinta Arratz’s rooms are not containers with significant separation from one another, but their 9 rooms are spacious and equipped with all the amenities, surrounded by a natural environment, excellent for strolling and exploring.
For Events in Valle de Guadalupe
One of the highlights of Quinta Arratz is its capacity to host events such as weddings and celebrations. The personalized attention and setting make it a perfect place for such memorable occasions.
What we like about Quinta Arratz at Reservalle:
- Full of nature and common areas
- Pool and jacuzzi (your family will really enjoy this)
- Tranquility and privacy of the exterior
- Event area
- Offers a full breakfast (champion’s breakfast)
What you should consider:
- It can be busy during events
- The parking is closed and secure but outside the premises
- No TV in the rooms
Guest reviews
Reviews of Quinta Arratz highlight the beauty of the place. Visitors appreciate the serenity and design of the hotel, as well as the personalized attention they receive during their stay.
Personally, I love that the entire property is full of nature, literally everywhere you walk. I also like going during the week to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi just for me and my family.
Their nightly rates start at approximately $100 USD.
